Piano Lessons in St Kilda

Janis Cook MMus, GradDipMus, LMus, AMus is a direct descendent of a teaching tradition that can be traced back five generations to the great nineteenth-century pianist Franz Liszt.

Individual piano lessons are taught with attention to the following:

• tone production

• efficient technique

• musical style

• interpretive character

• breadth of repertoire

Music theory tuition

Studies of the elements of music, the recognition and understanding of musical instruments, and the historical and cultural context of musical compositions are offered through lessons in the syllabus material from the AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) and VCE subjects.

Advanced coaching

Musicians preparing for a major examination, recital or audition can book casual sessions for advice on stylistic interpretation, extended techniques, ensemble skills, and more. Janis’ experience as a performer, examiner, editor and adjudicator offers a breadth of perception and knowledge.
